Week 11 - 26th March - Learning stop motion

Learning Stop motion:
Book: The Advanced Art of Stop Motion by Ken A Priebe
    1.    Digital Cinematography

The set up:

What camera type:
- DSLR
- Desirable to have video live feed> connect to laptop to see animation
- Canon EOS 5 Mark 2 best available
- Stop motion software> dragon frame, stop motion pro

Saving images as RAW instead of JPEG increases quality> helpful if editing in post production

Set all setting of camera to manual
-       Focus
-       Aperture
-       Shutter speed
-       White balance
-       ISO

ISO (light sensor) is usually 100 to 200

Aperture and Shutter speed
-       Think about depth of field (if your animation has this)

Most stop motion operates on the area of

F11 with shutter speed of ½ to 1 second

White Balance – playing with different moods
This should defiantly be done if using JPEG but if using RAW can edit in postproduction.

Think about motion blur!
